Ruby red wine with garnet glares, typical wild berry flavours with notes of vanilla, goudron and marasca cherry. Matches wonderfully with white and red meats and seasoned cheeses. Serve at 17-18°C (62-64°F).
Originally grown in France, it was imported in Friuli from the Bordeaux region more than 100 years ago becoming the most popular grape in the area: nowadays it gives more than 60% of the red wine produced in the Colli Orientali area.
Merlot Valchiarò is definitely well-defined, with a ruby red colour with garnet glare and typical wild berry flavours with notes of vanilla, goudron and marasca cherry.
Usually drunk pretty young, it is also great after a long ageing which highlights its mild tannic background.
It goes with white and red meats and seasoned cheeses.
Serve at 17-18°C (62-64°F).
